![]() ![]() ![]() Username "Redeye" on the following linked page says he had communication with Maton, and in the case of his guitar with last three serial number digits of "771", he was told his guitar dates from 1971:įrom this I conclude that the Maton serializing system used on your guitar might be "005"= instrument number in the series (obviously a very low number), and "886"= the decade of the 20th century ("8") and the year ("86").įrom such a low series number ("005") and from the fact that I can't find another guitar with the same model number, I'm guessing that there weren't very many of this model made. This 12-string CW80 is identified as a 1974, and the last two digits of it's serial number is "74": I did also find this guitar identified as a "Maton Coolibah, 1975," and it seems to have the same bridge as OP's: Now compare the bridge on this guitar identified as a "1989 CW80" (also, note the interior label that looks the same as OP's): Signature Model features Tasmanian Myrtle back and sides with a spruce top, jumbo frets, an ultra-playable neck, and the lightest satin. So far, I've only found one Maton with that same bridge shape, guitar identified as a "1987 CW80/C": Note the shape of the bridge on OP's guitar. ![]() I know zip about Maton guitars, but I'll share what I found. ![]()
